I had a very fun and exciting 12th birthday! I decided not to have a party, but I wanted to go shopping with mom and get some stuff for my room, etc. I just wanted to stay home on my birthday, so we made plans to go on our little “shopping spree” the Friday after my birthday. So, Friday afternoon, I was getting changed and getting ready to go shopping when Mom surprised me and told me that I needed to pack pajamas, because she reserved a hotel room for just the two of us! At this point I was teeming with excitement!
When we got to Newnan, the place where we were going to shop, Mom asked me where I wanted to shop. I honestly had no idea, because I had been so excited, I hadn’t even thought that far! We decided to go to Kohl’s where we just browsed. They have some really cool stuff there! When we felt we had seen everything that we wanted to, we went out to eat dinner. Once again, Mom asked me where I wanted to go. Now, this was very hard to pick. It seemed like all of my favorite restaurants were in one place! After much consideration, I decided on “Olive Garden” because, although I had never been, I had heard very good things about it. I would have to admit, it was a good choice! First we were lead to our seats, and we sat down and looked at our menus. For our appetizer we ordered bread sticks. They were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! When we had finished that, we ordered a salad. It was so good! Mom and I ordered a meal to share when we had finished the salad. We ordered “Chicken Parmesiana”. We could have ordered a dessert, but I was too full!
When we had finished eating, we shopped some more. The next place we went was JC Penney. We were looking for some turquoise curtains to go in my room, which were surprisingly hard to find. When Mom and I got in the store, we found some turquoise curtains that were the perfect color, but they were too small for the size of window I had. The lady at JC Penney was very helpful and pointed us in the way of Anna’s Linens, and said that they might have what we’re looking for. After we looked for a little while we found exactly what we were looking for! They now hang in my bedroom, and I fall in love with them every time I see them! I also found some sheets that match very nicely. By this time it was getting pretty late. So, we headed to our hotel.
When we got there we changed into our pajamas. That night we had some very good talks. After we had prayed together and done some devotions, we flipped on the TV and watched a few “home decorating” shows as I slowly dozed off to sleep…:-)
The next morning, we decided to go to Wal-Mart to pick-up a few things. I had already gotten almost everything that I wanted, and I loved it all! There was just one thing that I was hoping to get that I couldn’t find which was an alarm clock to go in my room. While we were at Wal-Mart Mom suggested that we check one more time, and I found the perfect one!
I had an awesome time and will always remember it! I hope that Mom had as much fun as I did! I love you, Mom!
