Ashes to Beauty

At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received

And You've won my heart
Yes, You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death You bore for me

I'm laying every burden down
I'm laying every burden down

These lyrics always mean a lot to me. They are a perfect reminder of Christ's suffering and love, so that I can experience the peaceful feeling of completeness in Christ. Completeness that only comes through Christ.

He has won my heart. Isn't it amazing how God has made it possible and finds joy in us trading our ashes into beauty? Our ashes are from our own sinful thoughts, desires and actions, that we brought on ourselves; yet Christ is willing to write His name, in His beautiful blood, over all of my sins, blotching out the imperfectness and calling me His own. To me, that is beyond beautiful.

I'm so blessed to serve a God who finds joy in me bringing my burdens to Him, laying them down at His feet of mercy.

Sometimes I just stand in awe. Almost shocked. Shocked that someone would actually die for me. He would've died for me if I was the only existing sinful creature. His love is that amazing.
