There once was a boy who was visiting the beach. It was low tide. There were a whole bunch of starfish, which came up at high tide, and were stuck on the sand when the tide went down. The boy was walking along the beach, throwing the starfish back into the water. He went along doing this for quite some time. Eventually, an older man came up to the boy and asked him what he was doing. The boy replied that he was throwing the starfish back in, so that they would live. The older man arrogantly retorted, "Well, that's dumb. This beach goes for miles and miles. There's thousands of starfish along the sand. Do you really think that you're making a difference by tossing in a few?"
The boy just kept walking, despite the older man's disapproving glare. After throwing in another starfish, the boy said, "Well, it made a difference to that one starfish."

This story is very convicting to me. It shows me that, even when witnessing or being a "good Samaritan", it may seem worthless. People may tell me that, too. But even if I'm not changing the world, I am making a difference to one or two people. And that's what we're called to do.
Just thought I'd share.
