Unpredictable.

That word seems to be a theme recently. Unpredictable.

At the beginning of the school year, I thought that writing class was going to be awful. Everyone who had been through this class told me that the teacher was very difficult to please. But later on in the year, I found myself looking forward to seeing Mrs. Lele and excited to hear the story that she might tell  that week. Writing class became one of the highlights of my week. Then, as yesterday was the last day of writing class, Mrs. Lele came up and gave me a warm, loving hug as she told me good-bye. And I realized that through the year, I had grown to enjoy being around her - and honestly, I hope I'm like her when I'm a grandma! :) Through this experience, I saw how wonderfully unpredictable life is.

If you let Him, God will take you on a glorious adventure. I've heard people say that before. Secretly, I always wondered how that is possible. I thought people just said it because they thought they were supposed to. But, I have found for myself that it is true.

It may just be small adventures. Like discovering a bright orange flower swaying in the wind. Or having a two year old call you to come and see something. Or to wake up early and open your window and feel the breeze on your face. Or to discover a new passage in God's Word. These are the small adventures that God takes me on that make life worth living. They make life unpredictable and they show me God's nearness and love.

I heard the saying once, "Life is like a novel. Anything could happen in the next chapter. You could lose your job, your best friend could be tragically killed, or you could go on a marvelous vacation. But there's no way of knowing what happens unless you keep reading."

Unmistakably, it's true. (Mrs. Lele would appreciate that -ly word. Smile.) Life is a novel. Partly sad, partly happy, but mostly just an adventure. Because it's unpredictable. Because you never know what's around the next bend. But, God is the one with the pen in His hand. He's writing the novel of my life. He's always by my side.  He promises that! And that excites me!
