This Christmas, I've realized that this time of year is all about hope. God sent hope to us through Jesus. He saw our filth and sin and knew we needed a Redeemer. Once we see our own filth and dirtiness and ask God to forgive us, we have freedom from sin because of Jesus! After that, we have that freedom and hope inside of us for all to see - but do they see it when they look at us? Do people ask us what gives us hope? Do we stand out from everyone else because we have the hope of Christ?
"Why don't people ask us about our hope? The answer is probably because we look as if we hope in the same things they do. Our lives don't look like they are on the Calvary road, stripped down for sacrificial love, serving others with the sweet assurance that we don't need to be rewarded in this life." John Piper
Let's resolve to let the hope of Christ shine brightly through us in the new year, 2012! It's too great to keep contained.
